Before social distancing, each person with #COVID19 spread the virus to 2.5 more people. At that pace, most would get it, and many more people would die. But we can slow the spread. That’s why we all #StayHome. #ApartTogether we slow coronavirus.

BROADDUS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT P.O.Box 58.215 Buchanan. Broaddus, Texas 75929. Phone: 936.872.3041 Fax: 936.872.3699 March 19, 2020 Dear Broaddus ISD Families and Stakeholders, Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, Broaddus ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 10th in an effort to support our nation's need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. The COVID-19 has left a lot of questions and I hope that I will answer your questions and help the community during these times. To meet TEA guidelines, rules, and regulations, Broaddus ISD will continue to provide an education to students and will make the best out of a bad situation. Faculty and staff will continue to provide instruction in some form, During School Closure When school is closed, at no time will any practices or events be held. All events have been postponed at this time. Students do not have to make up the time that school has been closed. Phone Calls You will be receiving phone calls from the school to check on the students and to see if the school can help anyway. These phone calls are not meant to cause an inconvenience, it is simply to help with different resources that the school has or might obtain. Instructional Material Every student will be sent a package of work for students to work on at home and return to school. We will be sending a self-addressed stamped envelope that can be used to return the info or you can drop it off at the school in the drop off bin that will be located at each campus. The teachers will also have their email addresses and/or contact information inside the package so that any questions can be asked. This work should be returned every 2 weeks. This work will be graded. Meals The school will not be providing meals at this time. If we see that this is a severe need, this service may be available at a later date. Sincerely, alles Lucas Holloway Broaddus ISD Superintendent "A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE"
School Closure March 23 - April 10
about 4 years ago, Broaddus I.S.D.
School Closure from March 23-April 10 Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, Broaddus ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 10th in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state, and an increase in confirmed cases in our county seems likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is continuing to have community spread or whether it has been contained. We are coordinating with other school districts in the county and will use the week of April 6th to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension further. To provide a sense of possible impact in order to help you prepare: If there is a need to continue the suspension at that time, it would likely be for at least 3 more weeks beyond April 13th. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. We want to reiterate a request to our broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness: Don’t shake hands Wash your hands regularly Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded places and maintaining 3 to 6 ft of distance between people (at least an arm’s length) If you are moving around in the community, don’t congregate in large groups For those who have traveled to areas with known COVID-19 cases – both inside and outside of the country – we ask that you self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms. Students who have traveled should plan to stay home for two weeks after arriving home. Please contact your campus to let them know, and this will be considered an excused absence. If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice Keep your child at home if he/she feels ill, even if you think it is just a cold. Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions throughout the week, and will provide the next update by April 10 via our website and email. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of the community in Broaddus ISD stay safe and healthy. Sincerely, Lucas Holloway Broaddus ISD Superintendent
As you probably know, the internet is down. This has prevented the JH/HS campus from printing work and updating our website with work for students 6th-12th. Elementary does have work printed. We will try and have resources available tomorrow. Stay tuned for more information.
