A Broaddus ISD bus was involved in an accident today. All parties involved were cleared by EMTs on the scene. This was an extremely scary time for BISD and our community. Quick responses by emergency personnel helped clear the scene. We are thankful that everyone involved is going home to their families this evening. All parties involved will be in our prayers.

Broaddus ISD Parents and Guardians: In reviewing our school data concerning COVID-19 cases, Broaddus ISD Parents and Guardians: campuses have done extremely well with very little or no virus infections. In examining this data, the BISD Board of Trustees has made the decision to adjust the BISD COVID-19 Protocol. Masks or face coverings will be optional starting on Wednesday, May 19. I know we will have many BISD staff members continue to wear masks and I expect that there will be many students that will also continue to wear masks. All other safety measures and procedures put in place for COVID-19 will remain. As a district, we will continue to inform parents any time that we have cases on campus. We will also continue to track COVID-19 cases and in the event that we have sudden increases or spikes in infection, we will immediately reinstate face coverings, whether on an individual campus or throughout the entire district grades 4-12. Another consideration when making this change was that a large number of our staff members have now been vaccinated. We also know that many parents and community members have been vaccinated for COVID-19, reducing the chance for the spread in our community and schools. Parents, you deserve many thanks for your great support to our school system and specifically the support shown during the 2020-21 school year. As administrators, we put many safety precautions in place to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and we have been super successful. Without parent support, this success would not have been possible. Thank you, parents, for your help and support with our safety efforts. We are now making this adjustment with masking but will continue all additional safety measures to keep our campuses safe. Again, we will keep our parents informed concerning any related COVID-19 cases. Have a wonderful evening and thanks again for being supportive as we start our transition back to some normalcy in our schools. Lucas Holloway Superintendent Broaddus ISD
