Recap: Broaddus Bulldogs vs. Zavalla Eagles

The Broaddus Lady Bulldogs scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. Everything went their way against the Zavalla Eagles as the Ladies made off with a 17-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Broaddus with their most commanding win of the season.

Raegan Higginbotham was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Higginbotham was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Montana Thacker was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Natalia Bahena, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all two of her plate appearances. Additionally, the second and third inning proved huge for the Lady Bulldogs, as they scored six in the 2nd and five in the 3rd. After Montana Thacker drew a walk in the 2nd, scoring one, Laila Holloway tripled, bringing in 3. Kaitlyn Pike grounded out, scoring a run.

Broaddus' victory bumped them up to 2-3 in district play.

On the boys' side, Broaddus can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over the Eagles.

Broaddus now has a winning record of 6-5.

Broaddus will head out on the road to square off against Leggett at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Broaddus' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Leggett's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
