It was an exciting day on the BISD Junior High/High School campus today as 4 green recycling bins arrived to mark the beginning of the BHS Student Council's recycling project. Superintendent, Mark Anglin, and JH/HS principal, Brad Hranicky, were on hand for the kick off! Two bins were placed in the lunch room, one in the gym, and a paper recycle bin was strategically placed by the front office. StuCo members hope to get more bins in the future. This project will be run by the StuCo's Standing Energy & Environment Committee which includes Brenden (Chair), Mercedes, Connor, & Kyla. Members will collect, weigh, & recycle plastic bottles, aluminum cans, & paper. Monthly reports will reported to DETCOG in Jasper as well as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Committee member, Kyla, says she hopes the bins will help the school and community see the importance of a cleaner environment.
